Scabby in Second :)

Today in second grade, we got bloody! (those with weak stomachs stop reading now if you're still with me!) In our study of the human body, we are talking BLOOD! We used the "Hollywood Movie" recipe to make our own blood. Each child was given a spoon full on their hand or arm. We then covered the blood with a piece of tissue and cocoa powder to make Scabs. Oh my! (As if the kids weren't already excited enough about Halloween being in the air!) This was a great activity for our human body unit and for discussing characteristics of the body healing itself such as blood clotting, scabbing, etc.

The recipe:

    Mix Together:
  • 2 TBSP Corn syrup
  • 4 drops of red food coloring
  • 1/2 tsp soy sauce

To make a scab, cover fake blood in onion flakes (I couldn't do the smell!) or a tissue and dab with cocoa power.

Enjoy!

Happy Friday!
